1. Sexual harassment
This is likely the most common and most understood of the ways that people can be harassed. In some cases, it is a very insidious form in that the harasser is very subtle and has a lot of plausible deniability. They are able to cover their tracks well so it isn’t always clear that harassment is taking place.
Sometimes they can be very bold and make threats such as requiring sexual favors to not be fired or to receive a promotion. This method works because they tend to target people who are vulnerable and are usually not in a position to risk losing their job.
Even if the form of sexual harassment comes in the form of crude jokes in front of people who would take offense to them, this is still creating a hostile workplace and has plenty of victims as a result.

If you are often denigrated in front of your peers, or a certain person is always aggressive toward you then you are the victim of a workplace bully.

3. Retaliation
When people speak up about problems or if they see something unethical happening then they may end up as a target. To create an environment in which people simply put their heads down and do as they’re told they will retaliate against anybody that speaks up.
This could be in the form of being passed over for promotions, schedule changes, or an increased workload. The idea is to make life difficult until the victim quits.
